Our Vision
At Best Worst Party, we believe that end of life planning is both a celebration and an act of love.
We’re busy planning vacations for later this year, birthday parties for next month, or dinner for tonight. Some of us have five-year, ten-year, or retirement plans, but we don’t project beyond that. Most of us don’t have the time or energy to consider our end of life goals. It doesn’t help that even suggesting that we think and talk openly about it is taboo! At Best Worst Party, we believe that planning and making decisions about the end of our lives is one of the kindest things we can do to protect the people closest to us. Our aim is to inspire a sea change to help people talk about the inevitable by doing it. right. now.
Our Inspiration
The inspiration for Best Worst Party was my partner’s memorial. We hadn’t planned for this. Instead we made plans for life– things to look forward to and dreams to fulfill once he was well.
I think he would have appreciated the best-version-of-the-worst-kind-of-party we threw in his honor with its black and gold balloon arch, Beetlejuice inspired floral arrangements, and his favorite comfort foods. I imagine he would have been impressed with the DIY flier and pins that made the event feel like an invite-only concert and the crepe paper secret garden that crowded the tiny bathroom at the venue. I’m confident that he would have loved that his friends and family all came together to craft an unforgettable celebration of his life on a shoestring budget. Nevertheless, I know he would have wanted to make these decisions himself if he had known how much comfort it would have brought us at an incredibly challenging time. My hope is to inspire a generation of our fellow party-goers to create their own Party Plan.
